Making Sense With Numbers

A collection of nine activities to practice early number work using the numbers 1 to 9.

Press a number - select a number from the on-screen number line or type a number on the keyboard. A corresponding number of objects will appear and will be counted. Finally the numeral is shown.

Count things - count the objects and select the correct number. The number of objects is then spoken, e.g. “seven turtles”.

How many? - count the number of different objects within a scene.

Dot-to-dot - practice number ordering. Select numbers in order from the jumbled number line. The completed picture will fill with colour and animate.

Dominoes - match numbers to patterns of dots by clicking on the hay wagons.

How many did you see? - count and remember how many moving objects pass by.

Park the car - vehicles appear with numbers or sums on them. Select the correct number in the car park and the vehicle will go to its parking space.

Paintbook - painting by numbers.

Number hunt - fish appear with numbers on their backs. Find the matching numbers on the keyboard or the number line before the fish are eaten by the hungry shark! Try to beat your highest score.
